Best Time to Visit Ranikhet

Although tourists love to visit Ranikhet all-round the year, the best time to visit here is during the months of September, October and November. Weather is very, pleasant during this early winter season after which the mercury starts to fall reaching a minimum of -3 degrees Celsius.

Ranikhet Tourism

Golf course: The golf course in Ranikhet is one of the highest golf course of Asia. It is located in Kalika, 5 KM from the mail city and is a 9-hole course. The green meadow of the golf course is amazing.

Mankameshwar Temple: Constructed by Kumaon regiment, Mankameshwar Temple is attached to the Nar Singh Ground. There is a gurdwara and shawl factory opposite to the temple.

Ashiyana Park: This beautiful park cum playground is an ideal destination for children. Developed on the jungle theme and it offers many recreational activities to the children.

Rani Jheel: It is also common among visitors to enjoy boat ride at Rani Jheel. The lake is located near Nar Singh Stadium and is a perfect place for anyone to relax.

Haidakhan Temple: This is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and located 4 KM from Ranikhet. The temple was built by Shri Haidakhan Maharaj who is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva. One can experience marvelous views of great Himalayas from here.

Binsar Mahadev: It is another famous temple here dedicated to Lord Shiva. The structure of the temple is very artistic and there is a beautiful stream flowing close to the temple adding to its beauty. There are beautiful pine and deodar trees surrounding the temple. With full of natural beauty, temple offers a relaxing environment for anyone.

Balu Dam or Baludham: It is an artificial lake that is worth visiting. The place offers excellent view of the Himalayan Mountains and is open to tourists all through the year. The dam is an ideal spot for picnicking and camping. There is a beautiful garden nearby that is loved by the tourists.

Jhula Devi Temple: This is a very popular temple in the area that is dedicated to the Goddess Jhula Devi. The temple is built at the place where the idol of Goddess Durga was excavated. As per the local belief, people come with their wishes to the temple and once the wish is fulfilled, they come again to offer a bell to the Goddess. The popularity of the temple can be imagined with the huge number of bells hanging here by the walls.

Rama Temple: The Rama Temple is located in the vicinity of Jhula Devi Temple and is dedicated to Lord Rama. The temple is situated on a hilltop and can be reached via a series of stairs. There is a monastery here that teaches ancient vedas and Vedic & modern mathematics to the students.

Chaubatia Gardens: Located around 10 KM from Ranikhet, the Chaubatai gardens are well known for the variety of Himalayan flora they offer to the tourists. Along with popular apple orchards here, one can find plantations of almonds, chestnuts, apricots and peaches. It is also common among tourists to buy honey and fresh juices from here.

Katarmal, Tarikhet, Syalikhet, KRC Museum and Majkhali are other places of tourist interest that are worth visiting.

How to Reach Ranikhet ?

Ranikhet is well connected with a good road network. There are frequent bus and taxi services operating on different routes to reach here comfortably. There are direct buses from Nainital, Delhi, Kathgodam and Ramnagar to reach Ranikhet. The city does not have a railway station and Kathgodam is the nearest railway station from here, located at a distance of 68 KM. Pantnagar airport is the nearest one from here, located at a distance of 119 KM.
